United Breast Cancer Foundation

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and as it seems the streets are covered in pink, we are reminded of the effect breast cancer has on so many people and families around the world. One organization sets itself apart by making a meaningful impact in the lives of those impacted by breast cancer. The United Breast Cancer Foundation (UBCF) is committed to “making a positive difference in the lives of those afflicted with breast cancer as well as those families affected by breast cancer” by providing financial support to individuals and families living with the disease.

With a dedication to proper prevention and early treatment, UBCF provides underinsured and uninsured women with free screenings, because they believe every woman deserves equal access to health care. Women who need a mammogram but lack the funds can apply to UBCF for a free screening.

UBCF knows breast cancer can put financial stress on all aspects of a person and their family’s life. To help with this, UBCF offers financial support for childcare to families managing breast cancer. This child sponsorship helps families pay for medical bills, groceries, clothing, and other essentials that may be hard to afford when also paying for treatment. Additionally, UBCF awards the Audrey B. Mastroianni Scholarship to college bound students of single parent homes due to a loss to breast cancer. The foundation also provides a variety of domestic services, such as house cleaning assistance and grocery shopping, to alleviate the stress of fitting day-to-day tasks into the busy schedule of treatment.

Hospitals and community centers can also benefit from the work of UBCF through grants awarded to institutions that provide assistance to current breast cancer patients.

UBCF is a wonderful organization that provides needed support to individuals and families affected by breast cancer. Families in need of assistance when managing breast cancer can look to UBCF for support and help. To learn more, please visit
