American Heart Month

It’s a heartbreaking fact—30,000 Americans die from heart disease each year, making it the leading cause of death for both men and women in the United States. That means one in four Americans and their families are impacted by this disease.

Heart disease refers to several conditions including ischaemic, valvular, hypertensive, and coronary artery disease (CAD)—the most common. Some types, such as CAD, may be alleviated through diet. To learn more, see PCRM’s nutrition education curriculum on preventing and reversing heart disease.
